That's the million dollar question, because any reliable tech site who knows anything about A/V gear has members who knows what's going on. I mean, if it were true, my Roku status wouldn't be showing 4K HDR 60 Hz & HDCP 2.2, would it? Makes me wonder if these sources are simply trying to upsell products (many of these sites has ads) or if they're simply ignorant. Although have read many sources stating that for any 4K HDR HDCP 2.2 device connected to system to function as intended, one weak link in the chain, this being the HDMI ARC 1.4 port.

Now with Full UHD Color enabled & my Roku Ultra confirmed the connection & HDCP 2.2 status, am happy. It should be included in the manual, or the one viewable by TV at least. This should be a sticky, as many are clueless to this (as was myself), there's many more asking the same & doesn't have the benefit of having Reddit members to provide answers. Have the attached HDMI device hooked up & powered on & can then enable Full UHD Color.

Outside the Smartcast app, I believe it was a better value for the money (both TV's were around the same price, sub-$250 on promo).įinally, is there any difference between the soundbar being plugged in as HDMI ARC vs optical? I believe it's required for Dolby DTX (or whatever), although my previous one, also a VIZIO, was running fine on my older, 1080p VIZIO TV. Even my older (2015) VIZIO E32-C1 has 60Hz HDMI ports (although limited to HDMI 1.4 & 1080p).

And how does a customer rep justify what's needed or normal? To the best of my knowledge, many 1080p TV's and PC monitors runs at 60Hz & has for years. How can this possibly be normal for a TV that claims to have some type of 120Hz motion rate (actually 60Hz native) w/out the use of any HDMI ports? Then these ports lets us down.
The exception would be if they were using an uncertified cables to begin with, otherwise it's a placebo effect. Had thought of trying one of the 8K cables of which some says improves 4K viewing, yet unless they have a 120Hz TV, can't see where it makes a difference. Am using the same 4K 18Gbps Monoprice premium HDMI cables as on the PC, so that's not the issue. Therefore, I don't get it, if a PC monitor without all the hardware of a 4K HDR TV can run Roku at 60Hz, then why can't the TV? Also, had to use the force mode of Roku to get the 30Hz used, although wouldn't do the same for 60Hz.
Oddly, on my 28" LG 4K PC monitor, with it's two HDMI 2.0 ports, Roku shows it's connected at 60Hz & I assume the same for the FireStick.
WTF? If that's the case, then why does these device makers has UHD 60Hz as the spec? We all should know that images, such as fast action will display better at 60Hz versus 30Hz. Tried twice calling VIZIO support, both times was placed on hold, after what was already a long one, both essentially said the same, that 'this is normal, one doesn't really need 60Hz'. My 4K Roku & 4K Amazon FireStick pluggged into HDMI ports, as well as Yamaha soundbar into ARC, are greyed out, cannot enable 'Full UHD Color'. While I enjoy watching this TV using OTA or WatchFree, am having a HDMI 2.0 issue.
